21Bikes.com – How You Can Help Make This Bicycle Website Into One Incredible Online Destination
November 23, 2009 by Darren Alff
21Bikes.com has been up and running for over two months now and it’s still going strong, but I need your help to make the site even better.
Here are two easy things you can do right now to help me make 21Bikes.com into one incredible online destination:
1) Upload A Photo & Tell Your Friends
The success of 21Bikes.com depends on people like you. In order for the site to continue running, it needs a continuous stream of new photos. So, if you haven’t done so already, head on over to the upload page and add your photo to the site.
Remember: the photo you submit needs to include both you and your bicycle. It doesn’t matter what kind of bike you ride, how old you are, or where you live in the world. Just click here, fill out the short form you find on this page and click the button at the bottom of the form that says, “Submit My Photo to 21Bikes.com!”
If you’ve already uploaded your photo, send an email to a friend a tell them about the site. I’d really appreciate it!
2) Leave Some Constructive Criticism Below
After you’ve uploaded your photo to 21Bikes.com and told a few friends about the site, I’d really like it if you could leave a comment below and let me know how you think I could improve the website. What features would you like to see? What do you like most about the site? What do you like least? How could the website be better?
If you have any ideas on how to make 21Bikes.com into an even better web-based destination, please leave a comment below. I will appreciate any constructive criticism you have for me and I’ll work hard over the next couple months to make the site even better.
Thanks again… and stay tuned for more great bicycle photos at 21Bikes.com!

Hi Darren,
You’re doing a great job categorizing bikes and collecting photos of them.
Just one concern I have about the photos that people send to you – Are they subject to copyright, or can they be freely downloaded?
If each photo is subject to copyright – Who is the owner, and how can he/she be contacted?
Thanks for leaving a comment about my site at 21Bikes.com. You asked about copyright protection for the photos and I’m not exactly sure what you are concerned about, so maybe you could help me? I think you are asking if you can use the photos posted on the site for your own personal or business use? Is that correct? If that is the case, I think you would probably have to take that up with the individual owners of the photos. Just like the photos, graphics, etc on pretty much ANY website, you have to get permission before you can use those images for yourself.
This isn’t really something I’ve thought about, but if you’d like me to contact one or more of the photo submitters, please let me know. Maybe we can work something out.
I’ve also just added a Privacy Policy with some of the basics about photo copyright, etc http://21bikes.com/privacy-policy/
This is the part you are interested in:
By submitting your photo to 21Bikes.com, you are giving us permission to use your photo however we please. However, we will contact you to ask for permission prior to using your photo outside of the 21Bikes.com website.
By submitting your photo to 21Bikes.com, you in no way lose ownership of the photo. You are the owner of all photos you upload to 21Bikes.com and you can do with your photo as you please.
Adding your photo to 21Bikes.com is supposed to be fun! If you are worried about submitting your photo to the site for any reason, we encourage you not to upload your photo.
If you would like to remove your photo from our site, simply contact us using the information found at the bottom of this page. Be sure to mention your name, the name of your photo post, and your email address so that we can easily find your photo and notify you once the photo has been removed.
Based on your question, it looks like I might have to add some more here.
If you have any suggestions on how to improve this section of the privacy policy, please let me know. And if you’d like more info on using one of the photos that is posted on the site, feel free to email me back and explain further. Thanks!
