My Interview With “Bike Friday”
June 22, 2008 by Darren Alff · 2 Comments
I recently had the pleasure of traveling to Aruba with a Bike Friday New World Tourist folding bicycle. I posted a few short articles (here, here, here, and here) about my new bicycle and received quite a bit of feedback.
Some people wrote to ask me about the bike and how it handled. Others wrote to tell me that they already owned a Bike Friday and that they absolutely loved it! Some even sent me pictures!

Flying With A “Bike Friday”

One of biggest advantages of owning a folding bike like a Bike Friday is the fact that the bike can fold down and fit inside a suitcase – thus enabling you to save a significant amount of money when traveling by plane.
As you may or may not know, most airlines charge approximately $80 per direction to fly a full size bicycle on an airplane. And even at this price, you still have to box the bike up, somehow get it to the airport, hope it passes inspection, and arrives all in one piece.

Packing My “Bike Friday” Folding Bicycle For The Very First Time
May 2, 2008 by Darren Alff · 1 Comment
I purchased a brand new Bike Friday New World Tourist folding bicycle just two shorts weeks ago… and since that time I’ve unpacked the bike, packed it up again, flew with it to Aruba, put the bike together for the second time, spent seven days riding the bicycle around the island, got 1 flat tire, packed up the bike again tonight… and tomorrow I’ll be flying home, where I will once again put the bike together so that I can ride it around town. Whew!
It sounds like a lot of work, but you know what? It was actually pretty easy!
Compared to what I used to have to do with my full-size touring bike when I traveled by plane, traveling with my Bike Friday has really been a breeze. And best of all, I really like the bike! (But more on that later). Read more
