Did You Get My Postcard?

May 20, 2008 by Darren Alff

Postcard from ArubaI recently mailed out a few hundred postcards to the subscribers of BicycleTouringPro.com. The postcards featured 8 different images from my recent bicycle tour of Aruba.

(If you didn’t get a postcard, it means that you are currently not a BicycleTouringPro.com subscriber, or I simply don’t have your mailing address on file. It’s also very likely that your postcard is still in the mail. If you’d like to join the BicycleTouringPro.com, you can do so by clicking here. It’s very likely that I’ll be sending out more postcards like this in the future.)

Believe it or not, I actually sent out these postcards for a reason!

As you may or may not know, I’ve gone on 8 bicycle tours over the last 8 years and after every single trip I’ve ever taken I go to the local photo developing store and get a couple 4×6 inch prints made from my journey.

On the back of these prints, I write a short message about my trip and send them off to my friends, family members, and the people I’ve met along the way.

Over the years I’ve found that people really get a kick out of my postcards. And on a recent trip to a friend’s house, I saw that he still had one of my postcards pinned up on his fridge – even though it had been at least 3 years since I sent it to him.

One of the best things you can do with these postcards from your bicycle tour is to send them to people you’ve met out on the road… and especially to the people who’ve helped you make your bicycle tour become a reality.

Use the postcard as a way of saying “Thanks!” It’s a good way to stay in touch with people and, at the same time, let those people know you appreciate what they did for you.

So whether you got a postcard from me or not, “Thank you for being a BicycleTouringPro.com reader!”

And if you’re ever out on your bike and feel like dropping me a note, send me a postcard!
