I've looked at Road ID and been tempted, but I use ID from http://www.meds.org/adventure.php .

Read this account of my riding partner's skull fracture to understand why.

We were 20+ miles from anywhere riding the Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail when she went over her bars. Even though we had worked together for 20 years and ridden thousands of miles together, I didn't have any personal contact info for her family.

I've been following the event this weekend, and this is the first article I read after getting back from my Sunday ride . . . by way of the emergency room!!!

Fortunately, nothing was broken (except the bike and the helmet) and I never lost consciousness (got my bell rung good, though). So, I could give the EMT my information.

However, I know that I was damned lucky; I was crossing a highway (on a green light) where traffic exceeds 50 mph. It didn't occur to me, until reading this, that I need to do something like this (my ID was tucked away in my CamelBak). Count on me making a purchase in the next day or two!

Darren, this is a great event! Thank you so much for doing it. Have a blast in Europe.
