Mark Your Calendar: The “Bicycle Lifestyle” Web Event Is Fast Approaching
November 5, 2008 by Darren Alff
With more and more people riding bicycles and using them to get to work, school, and everywhere in between, the world seems to be changing. The way we live, work and travel is forever being altered.
That’s why I’ve put together the first ever, Bicycle Touring Pro Lifestyle Web Event!
The event, titled, “Bicycle Travel As A Modern Lifestyle Choice,” will take place on the weekend of November 22nd and 23rd and will feature a jam-packed schedule of articles, interviews, videos, and live Q&A sessions having to do with bicycle travel, commuting, and lifestyle design. The event is aimed at anyone interested in learning how to use a bicycle to change the way they live, work and travel.
Event participants include:
- The Adventure Cycling Association
- Author, Joe Kurmaskie (The Metal Cowboy)
- BikeCommuters.com
- Bike Friday
- Canadian Best Selling Author, Ted Schredd (The Cycling Adventures of Coconut Head)
- CrazyGuyOnABike.com
- CycleAware
- Entrepreneur, Yaro Starak
- Gene Bisbee
- Momentum Magazine
- Road ID
- WarmShowers.org
- Writer and World traveler, Chris Guillebeau
What’s The Point?
The goal of the event is to introduce people to bicycle travel (whether it be short trips around their home… or long distance tours across the country). The information will be totally free and open to anyone… anywhere! All that’s needed to participate is an Internet connection.
Product Giveaways!
As a bonus, cycling products donated by the Adventure Cycling Association, BicycleTouringPro.com, CycleAware, and Yakkay will be also be raffled off to event participants. To register for the raffle, just enter your name and email address below (If you’re already a BicycleTouringPro.com newsletter subscriber, then you’ve already been entered).
Help Me Spread The Word
I’ll be releasing more information about the event as the date draws closer, but in the meantime I need your help. My goal is to get 500,000 people involved in this event. I’m working hard to introduce people to alternative lifestyles and I know that the information presented during this event will change the way many people think about the way they live, work and travel.
If you know someone who would be even the slightest bit interested in learning more about bicycle travel, commuting, or lifestyle design, please direct them to BicycleTouringPro.com before or during the weekend of November 22nd and 23rd.
And if you really want to go above and beyond the call of duty, do me a favor and send this press release to your local newspaper, radio station or bike club. If I’m ever going to reach my goal of getting 500,000 people involved in this event, I’m going to need your help!

Sounds very interesting. I’ll pass the word along.
Wow. this sounds great. What is the metal cowboy going to talk about? I just bought one of his books
Carissa, “The Metal Coyboy” is going to be submitting two articles actually. One is about bicycling with your family and the other one I am going to keep as a surprise. Hehe! It’ll be interesting. I promise!
I’ll be releasing more information about the topics that will be covered during the event as the date draws closer.
How does one get involved in a web event? I’ll be visiting Xtracycle on the 21st.
Fritz, to get involved, all you have to do is visit http://www.bicycletouringpro.com on the weekend of November 22nd and 23rd. About every two hours on both of these days, new articles, videos, interviews, and more will be published to the site. You simply log in and enjoy! It’s that simple! It’s two jam-packed days of information on bicycle travel. commuting, and lifestyle design.

Gary Koenig from the Denver Cycling Examiner posted an article about my “Bicycle Lifestyle” web event. He does a pretty good job of describing what a “web event” is.
It’s nice to see someone bringing all these folks and organizations together. I’ll pass it along.
Good work Darren
Whoop! just signed up. hopeI win!
I’ve received emails from dozens of people this week who wanted to know “What in the world is a ‘bicycle lifestyle web event?’”
That’s a good question, so I’ll try and give a good answer.
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:
On November 22nd and 23rd all you have to do is sit down at your computer and visit http://www.BicycleTouringPro.com. During those two days a new article, interview, video, or product giveaway will be taking place approximately every two hours.
That means that every two hours you should come back to the site and check out the latest free information.
But what kind of information is there going to be exactly? Well, I don’t want to give away all the surprises yet, but here are some examples:
BICYCLE COMMUTING
Ever considered ditching the car and riding your bike to work instead? What about picking up your groceries on your bike? Or maybe even picking up your kids from school?!
During this event, Jack Sweeny from BikeCommuters.com is going to share some tips and tricks on how to make your commute by bike both easy and enjoyable.
BICYCLE SAFETY
Concerned about safety when riding your bike? Worried about letting your children ride on their own? Want to know what you can do to avoid an accident from taking place?
CycleAware and Road ID are both going to be submitting articles on safety related issues for cyclists. They’ll not only be sharing how to stay safe when out on the road, but also be giving you some ideas on things you can do in the event an accident does take place.
MAKE MONEY WITH YOUR BICYCLE
Believe it or not, I’ve even arranged an interview with one of the most famous and well-respected people on the Internet – Yaro Starak. Yaro is the genius behind the world famous website http://www.Entrepreneurs-Journey.com. Yaro is only 29 years old, but he makes as much as $80,000 per month from his online businesses.
Yaro is going to be sharing with you a strategy that will allow you to travel the world and make money at the same time – something I know almost all of us would love to be able to do! You aren’t going to want to miss my interview with Yaro!
THAT’S IT!
That gives you an idea of just some of the content we’ll be covering during this two-day special event. There will be a whole lot more… and you aren’t gonna want to miss it!
As I mentioned before, this event is totally free and open to anyone in the world. All you need is an Internet connection.
Mark your calendars now and don’t forget to tune in.
On November 22nd and 23rd, just come back to this website and enjoy the free information I’ve put together for you here.
If you have any questions, just leave a comment below and I’ll get right back to you. Thanks again! And I’ll see you on the 22nd and 23rd.
there is another article on your event over at The Adventure Blog: http://tinyurl.com/5neyqe

What a great idea. Can’t wait.
Awesome stuff, got here late but look forward to checking out the events.
Is the Bicycle Touring Pro’s “Bicycle Lifestyle” Web Event happening in November 2009 too ?
Nour,
No, the Bicycle Lifestyle event won’t be taking place this year. I have a bunch of other projects I am working on at the moment – trying to get them finished before spring when the main bicycle touring starts back up again. There is a lot of good stuff in store for the future, however… so please stick around.
