My Croatian Family
May 20, 2009 by Darren Alff

It wasn’t until I arrived in Croatia that I had ever stayed in an apartment located above someone’s home. But this is quite a common thing in Croatia. Almost all the homes in the tiny town or Orebic have apartments attached to them in one way or another. It seems that renting out a part of your home is a great way for these low income producing families to make some extra cash.
Living above someone’s home, however, frightened me at first. But my Croatian family were excellent hosts. They welcomed me with homemade treats, helped me when the Internet went down, and gave me a small private apartment with my own outside entrance and an incredible view of the Adriatic coastline and the 30+ nearby islands – all visible from my seaside balcony.
If you ever need a good place to stay in Orebic, Croatia, I can make an excellent recommendation.
