Just 32 minutes from the Salt Lake City International airport, Park City is easy to get to… and even easier to fall in love with.

If that isn’t enough of a reason for you to come to Park City, just consider this: Park City was home to the 2002 Winter Olympics; is the home to several International outdoor retails – including BackCountry.com, Rossignol USA and Skullcandy; and is consistently rated one of the prettiest places in the country. Park City, Utah is truly one amazing place!

But enough about Park City. What kind of bicycle tours does Exclusive Excursions offer?

Tour Option #1 – Park City’s Historic Rail Trail

After gathering near Park City’s historic Main Street, you’ll jump on your bike and pedal just a short distance to the entrance of the Prospector Loop trail.

During its early years, Park City was once a booming mining town, where large amounts of silver were extracted from the earth beneath the city’s current ski resorts. The Prospector Loop trail, therefore, is named in remembrance of the miners who once worked the Park City area for the valuable silver extracts.

The Prospector Loop trail is an easy, yet exhilaration single-track trail that winds its way above Park City’s historic Main Street before dropping down onto the famous Park City rail trail. The single-track begins in a large collection of oak trees and shrub brush. The trail here is wide and smooth, fairly flat, and has gentle turns. As it curves around to the mountain’s north side, you’ll ride past a number of magnificent aspen and maples, under which lie hundreds of tall wildflowers.

After a couple small downhill switchbacks, the Prospector Loop trail turns into the rail trail… and the Park City rail trail is exactly as it sounds. This now paved and gravel bike path was once the main railway line that connected Park City’s mining town to the rest of the world. The railroad tracks start in downtown Park City and travel northeast for approximately 30 miles to the city of Echo, where they hit up with the Union Pacific Railroad tracks, which are still in use to this day. At the present moment, however, the Park City rail trail is an easy and enjoyable, downhill graded bike path than can be enjoyed by cyclists of all ages and skill levels.

Once on the rail trail, you will follow the path to the northeast for about an hour-and-a-half before finishing your day in the tiny town of Wanship.

After all of the participating cyclists have gathered in Wanship, your bikes will be loaded into our shuttle and you’ll be driven back to Park City, here you can retire to your home, hotel, or other accommodation.

Tour Option #2 – Downhill To Midway & Provo Canyon

After gather at a location near the entrance to the Park City rail trail, we’ll load you and your bike into our shuttle and drive you to the top of an area in Park City called “Guardmans Pass”.

The elevation difference between downtown Park City and the top of Guardmans pass is significant – more than 2,000 feet. So instead of making you ride all the way to the top, we’ll drive you up in our shuttle.

Once we reach the top of the pass, we’ll unload the bikes and take off on a beautiful paved and gravel road than runs downhill from the top of Guardmans Pass all the way to the nearby city of Midway. Along the way you will be engulfed in a forest of aspen trees and treated to breathtaking views of the Heber Valley below.

The downhill ride from Guardmans Pass to Midway should take about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive in Midway, you’ll cycle a short distance through the Switzerland inspired architecture of this tiny mountain town before stopping at a local city park and being treated to a catered lunch of sandwiches, chips and refreshments.

After lunch, you and your bike will jump back in our shuttle and you’ll be driven just a short distance down the road to the start of the Provo Canyon Parkway. Once your bike is unloaded, you’ll be free to take off and explore the magnificently steep canyon walls on the Parkway’s paved bike path that winds its way some 14 miles on an almost unnoticeable downhill trail, all the way to the city of Provo. Along the way, you’ll pass the Sundance ski resort, the 607-foot Bridal Veil Falls, rafters drifting by on the Provo River, and a never-ending number of spellbinding mountain scenes.

Once you reach the bottom of the Provo Canyon Parkway, you’ll be loaded back up into our shuttle and driven back to Park City in time for dinner, drinks, or other nighttime entertainment.

Tour Option #3 – The Mid-Mountain Trail

Your day will begin with a short drive in the Exclusive Excursions shuttle to Park City’s famous Deer Valley ski resort.

Deer Valley has been consistently rated the number one ski resort in all of North America for the past several years, and during the summer, the resort plays home to several professional mountain bike races and events. It’s a seriously beautiful place… with some of the best mountain biking trails in all of Utah!

Once we reach the main resort area of Deer Valley, you’re bike will be unloaded and you’ll be guided for approximately 14 miles along Park City’s most famous mountain biking trail – the Mid-Mountain Trail.

While some cyclists like to call it the “Eight Thousand Foot Trail,” its official name is the “Mid-Mountain Trail”. The Mid Mountain Trail is an awesome single-track ride that rocks up and down at the 8,000-foot elevation level and traverses more than 22 miles through the mountains above Park City.

While you won’t be cycling the entire length of the Mid-Mountain Trail, you will be tackling some of the larger and more interesting sections of this famous mountain biking track.

We’ll start at Deer Valley and then slowly cycle our way across and down the mountain. Along the way, you’ll be treated to some of the most breathtaking views in all of Utah. Surrounded by aspens, you’ll zip along the fun and windy single-track trail, making your way through meadows of wildflowers and passing by beautiful mountain ponds.

Once we leave the Deer Valley resort area and pass into Park City Mountain Resort (the two resorts sit next to each other), we’ll make our way to a fun downhill trail known as “Spiro.” As its name suggests, this 3.5 mile downhill trails consists of several sharp switchbacks, which beginner rides should take with caution… and intermediate rides can tackle with pure joy!

After exiting the trail at the bottom of the Spiro trail-head, you’ll find yourself at the base of Park City Mountain Resort, where your tour of Park City will officially come to an end.
