Which countries do you plan on cycling through? The only thing I personally don't like about the Trek 520 is its bar-end shifters. This is just a personal preference sort of thing, but I don't like bar-end shifters. If you don't mind them, then this bike will certainly be capable of transporting you and your belongings across Europe and beyond. Those are my thoughts. Hope they help!
