The Bicycle Touring Pro Travel Scholarship
The Bicycle Touring Pro travel scholarship was started in 2010 to help young, first-time bike travelers get their start in the world of self-supported bicycle touring. The scholarship is given out in April each year and is funded in part by the money raised on BicycleTouringPro.com… and in part by people just like you!
This page describes exactly who can apply for the travel scholarship, what steps need to be taken in order to apply, and how to donate to the cause if you are so compelled.
Who Can Apply
In order to apply for the Bicycle Touring Pro travel scholarship, you must be between the ages of 16 and 29 at the time of application. You can apply for the scholarship no matter where you live in the world.
The Bicycle Touring Pro travel scholarship is intended for first-time bicycle travelers. However, if you have already conducted a short trip by bike, you are more than welcome to apply. If you have already cycled around the world, however, this scholarship is likely not for you.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about world travel, bicycle touring and personal development. If you can prove to us that you are serious about your efforts to experience the world on the back of a bicycle, you have a good chance of receiving aid from Bicycle Touring Pro.
Make A Donation
If you would like to make a monetary donation to the Bicycle Touring Pro travel scholarship, please click here and fill out the form on the following page. A percentage of the money made from Bicycle Touring Pro* is donated to the BTP travel scholarship. But reader donations from people like YOU are always welcome. 100% of your donation will be given to one or more bicycle travelers going off on their first bicycle touring expedition.
$600 USD was raised for the travel scholarship in 2010… and $800 USD was donated by people like you for the 2011 BTP travel scholarship.

How To Apply
To apply for the Bicycle Touring Pro travel scholarship, simply fill out the form on this page. Extra credit will be given to applicants who submit photos, videos, and/or other creative proof that they truly want support for their upcoming adventures.
The deadline for applications is March 16th, 2012. If you apply after this date, you will be considered for a scholarship in the following year. The scholarship money will be given out on Monday, April 2nd, 2012.
* 10% of all money made from the sale of The Bicycle Traveler’s Blueprint is donated to the Bicycle Touring Pro travel scholarship.
