A British Folding Bicycle Microadventure

July 29, 2011 by

My friend Alastair Humphreys is conducting a year of micro-adventures in his home country of Britain. This past month, he and a friend traveled to a little-known place called Muckle Flugga, where the two set out on folding bicycles and packrafts to explore this beautiful location not all that far from their homes in southern Britain.

I knew they were both on Bromptons, which in my opinion are the best folding bikes on earth. Bike Fridays may be made in the usa but Bromptons simply rawk!

I’m a long-term Brompton lover but this trip made me realise that each brand of folding bike is good for one particular thing. The Brompton is the king of folding small and whizzing to the office. But it’s not one to ride loooong miles on!
