VIDEO: Bicycling Switzerland In The Winter
June 8, 2009 by Darren Alff
I spent the first two months of 2009 in Switzerland. With my bicycle as my only companion, I spent much of my time cycling around in the cold and snow.
Because I was renting an apartment Luzern, Switzerland, which served as my home based, I was able to go out for a day and then return to my apartment at night for a warm shower and a hot meal.
I took some video on a few of my rides and I’ve compiled some of the shots together in the video above. As you will see, I experiened a number of different weather conditions. Some days it was quite clear and sunny, while other times I was covered in rain and snow.
That said, the overall cycling experience in Switzerland was really rather good. Better than I expected it to be in fact! The roads were clear, the cycle paths were well-maintained, and even though it was cold, I was able to get out in just about any weather condition and enjoy some good times on my bike.
