Western Digital My Passport Essential 500 GB USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive
April 16, 2009 by Darren Alff

I’m currently using this Western Digital 500GB external hard drive while traveling through Europe with my laptop. The drive connects via a standard USB 2.0 port and is made just for travelers (thus the name – “The Passport).
I’ve found that the drive has two huge advantages.
1) The first is that the drive requires no external power source, which means I don’t have to pack two power converters for my trips overseas. Instead, the drive pulls its power straight from your computer. So with one power converter, your laptop and this Western Digital hard drive, you are all set to go!
2) Secondly, the drive is incredibly small, which is important for any world traveler. As you can see by the photo above, the drive is just a bit bigger than my cell phone.
If you are planning a trip with your computer and plan to take a lot of photos or shoot a lot of video? Then I recommend you consider packing The Passport for your adventure!
