    Darren,
Your website has given me the best of every thing, courage. I feel a little like the Wizard of Oz’s Cowardly Lion(aka Bert Lahr), if I only had “courage”. Well, you’ve given me courage or the confidence to pack up my Trek 520 and go. I took a trip to central Missouri to visit my dad’s(deceased) hometown of Taos. Prior to taking off, I had to prove to myself ( I’ll be 60 in February) that I could survive an extended ride by riding the MO Trailnet “Ride The Rivers Century” ride.. Woohoo, I did it! So, now I’ve gone beyond the “baby steps” level to riding on my own with a little less dependence on Darren Alff. My longtime dream of riding across the USA is now even stronger! Thank you Touring Pro!

    Darren,

I have been visiting and reading your website for a long time. I find many of your articles very interesting. I especially liked the write up on cameras. But the user comment following the article really showed the difference between pro and amateur. Having done professional for a short time, sometimes I forget the joy of photography rather then the need to take a lot of equipment and still get the shots you want. Keep up the great website.

    Darren,

I became interested in bicycling while I was teaching English in Korea. I bicycled my way around Seoul as a means of transportation. As my contract neared its end, I began to think about going on a biking tour through Japan, for cause. I chose to go from Fukuoka to Tokyo to raise money for Breast Cancer. Before I left, in my SongpaGu apartment, I found your website which provided me with great ideas and tips. I incorporated those things into my tour, making it very successful.

    Thanks
    -Mike

    Darren,
i love Europe. I’ve learned a lot about cycling in Europe from your articles about cycling in Europe. We go there 1 or 2 times a year. Someday I want to take what I’ve learned from your site and ride around Europe for a year. I’m gong to retiring in 3 years and maybe that time is getting close. Keep up the good work.

    Thanks,
    David

The greatest thing your web site has taught me is keeping a great attitude. Of course all the information has been very neat. but my trips now are all about having fun,and not getting beaten up by the little things that go wrong. thank you so much. Tom

Darren you are the main person that inspired me to atempt a long distance bike trip. Now i have heard of people biking across America before but it wasnt to i was browsing the web one night that i came across your site and soon realized how easy it really could be. Ive spent countless of hours reading litterally every article on your website over and over again. I am currently on tour right now going from Anacortes, WA to my home town in central MN. I would like to pick one certain thing that you have helped me with but i cant because there is just to much. You have helped open my eyes to the world of bicycle touring in a way i thought would never be possible. I have met countless of great people on my tour and none of this would be happening if i never came across your website.

Once i finish my tour i would like to help spread the word on how great bicycle touring is and how easily achievable it really can be to everyone! It is amazing how something so simple as riding your bike from one place to another can really bring out the bright side of of people, even from the people you least expect it from. Well i should probably end it here because i know i could bable all day about this subject but thats my 2 cents.

    Thanks
    AMT
