Scosche BoomBottle Bicycle Bluetooth Speaker

My friend Mark gifted me a Scosche BoomBottle bicycle Bluetooth speaker and I thought it was cool enough to share it with you here on Bicycle Touring Pro. While this isn’t something I would necessarily bring with me on a long-distance bike tour (it’s too large and requires too much charging) it is a fun little device for my local bike rides and, perhaps, for shorter tours.

In short, the BoomBottle is a compact, durable, weather-resistant wireless speaker for your smartphone, tablet or computer, allowing you to play your audio at home or on your bicycle with the touch of a button. The main advantage to using this particular speaker is that it is so much louder (and more clear) than the speaker that comes standard with your smartphone or tablet. And that fact that it is wireless means you play your audio just about anywhere!

For home use, simply pair the speaker with your smartphone, tablet or laptop/desktop computer and then control the volume normally. The music, audio or video content you play on your device will be broadcast via your device’s Bluetooth connection out from the BoomBottle just like a regular pair of speakers – but with no strings (or wires) attached. You can control the volume from the BoomBottle itself (using the built-in volume buttons), or from whichever device you happen to me playing your audio.

For on-the-bike use, the Scosche BoomBottle is designed to fit inside a standard bicycle water bottle cage (as you can see in the photos on this page). At 8.125 inches tall and 1.85 inches in diameter, the BoomBottle is perfectly designed to fit inside your standard water bottle cage and also has a shock-absorbing non-slip exterior, ensuring that the bottle won’t slip off your bicycle or fall out of your hands.

To charge the BoomBottle, simply plug it into your computer or a USB capable wall charger and wait. Once charged, the BottomBottle will stay powered on for as much as 10 straight hours before it needs to be recharged.

The BoomBottle is more than loud enough to be heard while riding your bike (even in light traffic), but it can also be used in a plethora of circumstances: while doing yard word, working in the garage, listening to music, listening to audio books, listening to language tapes, at the beach, in the car, or just about anywhere! My overall rating: 5 out of 5
