Wild Camping In An Orchard – My First Night In Ukraine

After crossing into Ukraine some time around 3 PM on the 12th of November, 2012, I quickly made my way down the road and as far away from the border as I could possibly get before running into a roadside orchard for a night of wild camping. After walking my bike for several minutes through an endless maze of berry bushes and apple trees, I found a place to pitch my tent and settle down for the night. When I woke up the next morning (and every day after for the following three weeks), Ukraine was covered in a thick, wet, freezing cold fog that limited my visibility and made everything cold, damp and downright miserable. I was in Ukraine… and winter had finally found me.
