My last night of camping in Ukraine was spent in a large forest. Entering from the road and riding the bike several hundred meters back into the trees before setting up the tent that night, a thick fog rolled in as darkness fell and in the morning I had trouble getting my bearings. I couldn’t tell which way I had come in from the night before or which way I needed to go to get back to the road. Luckily, I was able to find my way out of the forest and continue cycling, but it was a dark, cold night and a miserable, scary morning. When I think back on my bicycle tour in Ukraine, it is this one image (and the feelings I associate with it) that will likely stand out most in my mind.
