Have You Been On A Bicycle Tour Before?

For the past year I’ve been surveying readers here at BicycleTouringPro.com and asking them, “Have you been on a bicycle touring in the past?”
I gave them only three options to choose from:
- No, not yet
- Yes
- Yes, more than once in fact!
152 people answered this particular question… and here are the results:
68 people (44.74%) reported having not yet been on a bike tour; 45 people (29.61%) reported having been on more than one tour; And 39 people (25.66%) reported having been on a single trip by bike.
These results excite me!
They excite me because there is a large population of readers here at Bicycle Touring Pro who are here to get information on how to pick the right equipment, plan out their route, and prepare for their first bicycle touring adventure. If I am able to help these people, either through the free articles here on the site or through my book (The Bicycle Traveler’s Blueprint), then that makes me feel really good!
Secondly, there are a number of people here who have been on one bike tour already and are coming back for more! This is great as well, because I want people to see bike touring as more than just something you do once in your life and then forget about. I’d like to see more people have the opportunity to travel by bike and come back to it again and again if that’s something they’d like to do.
And finally, I think it’s really amazing that there are so many people out there who have gone on multiple bike tours and are still coming back from more. Obviously, there are a lot more “bicycle touring pros” out there than I thought. It seems as though the bicycle touring lifestyle is alive and well… and the future of bike travel is looking bright.
